TAO/Molly Blank Groundbreaking, A note from Managing Director, Micah Fortson
Posted on Feb 9th, 2026

Hello, new neighbors!

After years of conversations, community meetings, planning, fundraising, challenges, and triumphs, we’re excited to announce that we are breaking ground on the Molly Blank Center for Opera and the Arts! This is a momentous time where we cross the threshold from dream to reality and mark a new era for classical arts in Atlanta. I would like to personally extend my warmest appreciation for the overwhelming support we have received from neighborhood residents. We hope that you will consider yourselves a part of our Atlanta Opera family.

The site (and parking) will be closed for construction starting February 14, 2026, and is expected to reopen to the community in the Fall of 2027. For more information and our updated FAQ (scroll down the Molly Blank page), please visit our website.

On February 17, we are hosting an open house (or “tent”) from 12pm – 2pm on the lawn where Havenridge Drive terminates at the Beltline connector. We welcome you to visit, get to know us better, and have coffee or cocoa with some of our staff. We’ll be in our large circus tent as a symbolic callback to how far the arts have come since the pandemic. We hope to see you there!

Sincerely,

Micah Fortson
