Trees Atlanta embarks on a 5-year project to restore the forest in Sam T. Roberts Memorial Park
Posted on Feb 20th, 2026
Crews are scheduled to begin work on Monday, February 23, 2026. The initial phase will focus on tree and shrub removal in Zone 1 of the Sam T. Roberts Memorial area, along the creek side of the path. All debris will be staged and removed promptly.
This is a multi-phase, ongoing project that will last five (5) years. At the start of each month, an email outlining scheduled workdays and a summary of planned activities is sent. Because much of the work is weather-dependent, any necessary changes will be communicated promptly via follow-up email to Peachtree Battle Alliance leadership.
We have notified proximate neighbors through mailbox flyers explaining that the work involves removing invasive plant species that crowd out native plants and reduce biodiversity. The goal is to restore and strengthen the ecological health of the greenspace. This five-year initiative is generously funded by a private donor.
