Goal:

To successfully manage all aspects of the planning design and implementation of a comprehensive, neighborhood-wide taffic calming plan which will protect, maintain and improve residential quality of life.

History:  The PBA Traffic Calming Committee was formed in February 2002.  Click here for a summary of the Committee's activities since inception.

Priorities:

1)    Communicate the PBA Traffic Calming Plan throughout the PBA neighborhood to ensure a united front.   Create opportunities for all residents to express concerns and ideas for improvement.  Work for approval within the City of Atlanta.

2)    Seek project funding from all possible sources to minimize the need for internal funds, leverging local funding with government and foundation matching funds.

3)   Implement a plan that is aesthetically consistent with the character of PBA.

COMMITTEE REPORT - 2009

TRAFFIC CALMING COMMITTEE

The City and the Alliance continue to move closer to finalizing plans and developing an implementation schedule for the Peachtree/Peachtree Battle intersection. This is a major improvement.

The City has approved the Alliance plan for improvements to the Sagamore/Peachtree Battle intersection and the Sagamore/Woodward Way/Northside Drive intersection area. Although there is much still to be done, particularly related to fund raising, this is an important step.

The DOT plans to implement our plans to further improve Northside Drive and to improve the Peachtree Battle/ Manor Ridge/Northside Drive intersection. These are still scheduled but the implementation dates continue to get pushed back as DOT struggles to finance their projects.

The speed limits on West Wesley have been successfully reduced.

In all cases, the Traffic Committee will continue to communicate throughout the neighborhood as needed to keep all affected neighbors informed of our progress.
