In the early 1990s the Peachtree Battle Alliance Board of Directors commissioned portrait
artist and long-time neighborhood resident, Comer Jennings, to design an emblem suitable for representing
the PBA neighborhood. Comer graciously accepted the challenge and presented several excellent designs to
the PBA Board members. The Board narrowed the choice to two designs – one incorporating a magnolia blossom and one a
ginkgo leaf. After reviewing a couple of variations of each theme, the Board, in measured wisdom, chose a design bearing two
ginkgo leaves as an appropriate symbol of our neighborhood. When originally conceived, the PBA Board offered
gingko leaf flags for sale to neighborhood residents. Over time, enthusiasm for the flags waned, and the artwork remained
in a file which passed through the hands of several PBA Board Presidents.
In 2003, the PBA Board revived the emblem for use as our neighborhood logo. The historical significance
of the much-loved and frequently photographed ginko tree standing guard near Peachtree Road, and its representation by our
neighbor and artist, Comer Jennings, symbolize the gracious, yet sophisticated southern charm that exemplify
the PBA neighborhood and the Peachtree Battle Alliance on our website.
PBA neighbors who join the Peachtree Battle Alliance will have the opportunity
to display the logo on their automobiles with a small decal. The PBA Board is pleased to resurrect this
emblem as a wonderful representation of our neighborhood that will ignite fond memories for our long-time residents and will
strengthen our sense of community in the years ahead.
