PBA CRIME WATCH

DO YOUR PART TO REDUCE CRIME
IN PBA...

If you see any suspicious activity, please follow the next

three steps:

#1        Telephone 911 and tell the operator
             *          Your name and address
             *          That you live in Zone 2
             *          The facts and address of what you saw or heard.

#2        If you are a member of  PBA, contact our Security Patrol
number. If an officer is on patrol in our neighborhood or a nearby area,
he will answer the cellphone. If there is no officer on patrol, you will
not be able to leave a voice message as there is no voice mailbox
function on that phone.

#3        Please inform the PBA Crime Committee. We track and keep up
with activities throughout the neighborhood and are in frequent contact
with Barry Miller. This is how we will effectively work together to limit
criminal activity. E-mail information to crime@peachtreebattlealliance.org

Crime Update 2010
CRIME WATCH COMMITTEE

The PBA celebrated its one-year security patrol anniversary during fall of 2009. With that behind us, we are all now in the process of paying 2010 dues. After paying your dues, you will receive a new mailbox sticker. Please replace your current one with the new version. And, if this is your first year to join our Alliance, enjoy the benefits of the PBA Security Patrol headed up by Barry Miller. This sticker is a  visual prompt identifying participating households so the officers can tell which households are PBA subscribers.

Currently, the board has added an additional rotating shift to the Patrol's hours so the officers can give our neighborhood extra coverage during the 2009 holidays when many of us travel for vacation and family visits. Please follow all of the normal travel protocols by alerting your neighbors of your travel dates and calling on the PBA patrol resident voicemail number with your in and out-of-town dates, so the officers can put your home on their mail and paper pick-up lists.

Our neighborhood is currently experiencing a rash of front doorstep package theft. Please, ask friends and neighbors to make arrangements with you before dropping off gifts. Also, consider requiring signature deliveries of all UPS and Fedex packages, or leave a note on your front door requesting items be left at side doors instead of front doors. Barry Miller believes the layout of our neighborhood with the homes close together and situated for easy street side access makes us easy targets for thieves driving through looking for boxes stacked at doors.

Other year-round tips include:
* Never open your door to door-to-door solicitors. All solicitors are required to carry a City of Atlanta door-to-door permit, which carries a fee, rarely, if ever paid by solicitors.
* Never leave your wallet, laptop or briefcase in your car.
* Never leave items overnight in cars parked in driveways and along residential streets.
* GPS system thefts currently rank as the number one car theft. To prevent this from happening, do not leave the device in your auto and do not leave any supportive bracketing device visible either.

More information regarding participation in the security patrol as an Alliance member is available by contacting crime@peachtreebattlealliance.org
