Rivers Elementary School walking from Brookwood Hills to the front door of the Peachtree Battle Avenue school in support of keeping their school community intact.

January 2012 – Every month that passes brings us closer to a new green space reality.  The current structure at 473 Woodward Way was purchased in the flood damage mitigation program sponsored by FEMA last year.  The main purpose of this program is to remove structures and impermeable surface from flood plain areas.
There are many criteria attached to this program that have consequently made it a very slow process.  The danger of the uncovered pool that was retaining water has been removed by breaking up the pool structure and filling it in.  Once all program restrictions have been met the structure will be demolished.  The Department of Watershed, now the owner of this property, hopes to accomplish this in early Spring.  At that point the space will be turned into green space that will be maintained by the Peachtree Battle Alliance Parks Committee under our contract with Valley Crest.
It is our hope that we will have cause for celebration in the very near future and will be able to announce plans for a neighborhood event soon.  We will keep you posted!

After six years of Peachtree Battle Alliance effort and additional assistance from the office of Yolanda Adrean, we are very pleased to announce the project described below.  The Department of Waterhsed Management wants us to stress the fact that this is a pilot program and the schedule will be subject to weather.  In the following two to three years, the success of this program will be evaluated for a permanent solution to a problem the neighborhood has born for the last 75 years.  We are very grateful to them for working so diligently over the last few months to find a resolution to our problem. We ask that you participate in the program you will see described. Please click the highlighted links below to read the staging schedule as outlined in the Control Plan.

Customer care phone numbers are listed in the Odor Control Hotline Flyer. The City is encouraging Woodward Way residents to communicate the level of smells as the project progresses, so that the odors emitted from the sewer hatch can be successfully eliminated.
